New Self-Supporting Certificate Programs
Both Professional Certificates and Certificates of Completion may be accompanied by digital badges. To learn more, see the requirements below.
New Professional Certificate
Professional Certificates (noncredit) must follow the procedures outlined in the provost’s January 2024 memorandum (pdf) to the school deans.
If new faculty must be hired to initiate the professional certificate program, the school dean must inform the provost first before proceeding with the proposal.
No professional certificate program can enroll students or do any advertising, including web postings, until the provost has authorized the existence of the program.
To start, follow these steps:
- Read the provost’s January 2024 memorandum (pdf).
- The school/program faculty complete and submit the Professional Certificate Template (docx) as stated in the memo, evidence of vote/approval by program and/or school faculty, and the dean’s endorsement emailed to Dr. Serenity Rose King.
- A digital badge may accompany the professional certificate upon request from the school/program. The Digital Badge Template (docx) should be submitted together with the documents outlined in step 2.
King will review the proposal and then obtain the provost’s approval as applicable.
New Certificate of Completion
The Certificate of Completion should be used when providing training for specific targeted audiences supported by nonprofit organizations or other respective endowments.
To start, follow these steps:
- The school/program faculty complete and submit the completed Certificate of Completion Template (docx), evidence of vote/approval by program and/or school faculty, and the dean’s endorsement emailed to Dr. Serenity Rose King.
King will review the proposal and then obtain the provost’s approval as applicable.
