Contains events hosted by the Provost’s Office Faculty Success Program (FS) and the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). August

Tuesday, Aug. 13, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center: Comet Launch: New Faculty Orientation. Welcomes and integrates new faculty into the institution, providing essential information about policies, resources and expectations while fostering connections among colleagues to support a smooth transition and preparation for their roles in teaching, research and service. Thursday, Aug. 22, 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.: Mentor Kickoff Meeting. Introduces mentors to their roles and responsibilities, providing guidelines and resources to help them effectively support and guide their mentees. It aims to ensure mentors are well-prepared to foster professional growth and development.

Tuesday, Aug. 27, 9-10 a.m.: Monthly Mentor-Mentee Coffee and Chat. Networking event where mentors and mentees can connect over hot coffee and tea and meet other faculty members from around campus.

Wednesday, Sept. 4, 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.: FS Workshop for non-tenure-track faculty: Things I Wish I Knew When I Started as a Faculty Member. Panelists share essential advice for new faculty. Learn about overcoming initial challenges, maintaining work-life balance and avoiding burnout. This interactive session includes personal anecdotes, practical tips and a Q&A segment.
