The recruitment and development of postdoctoral scholars, aka postdocs, is a priority at UT Dallas, with the help of a National Science Foundation grant.

The Office of the Provost’s Faculty Success Program has expanded its mentoring, workshops and awards for nontenure-system faculty members, and The University of Texas System devoted a June meeting to discussing how to attract and support them. Here’s why.

The Provost’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Mentoring was split into tenure-track and non-tenure-track winners this year. The winners were Dr. Michael Kesden and Dr. Syed Kaazim Naqvi.

There were several highlights in the Faculty Mentoring Program during the fall semester, including an important workshop for associate professors.

Faculty Mentoring workshops benefit new faculty at The University of Texas at Dallas in many positive ways. Topics for 2023-24 include research and publication strategies, lab management and tips for grant writing.

Dr. Rashaunda Henderson was named the inaugural winner of the Provost’s Award for Faculty Mentoring for mentoring Dr. Ifana Mahbub.

The Faculty Mentoring program pairs mentors with mentees for in-person meetings, such as the Monthly Mentor-Mentee Coffee and Chat, as well as impromptu get-togethers, emails and instant messages.
