Purpose and Scope
Purpose and Scope: The objectives of Receiving and Shipping are to provide prompt and accurate control over the flow of materials to, from, and within the University and to facilitate prompt payment to vendors.
Receiving is also charged with maintaining an adequate inventory of stock gases, liquid nitrogen, dry nitrogen, and tax free alcohol.
Services rendered to the University project officers, teaching, research, and other professional and administrative staff include, but are not limited to the following
- Material obtained by purchase order
- Visual inspection of materials/freight
- For quantity
- For damage
- Delivery to the requesting department or individual
- Routing delivery reports
- Shipping arrangements.
Limitations: Services are not provided for certain categories of materials including, but not limited to:
- Bulk petroleum
- Library books.
The Callier Center for Communication Disorders: The Callier Center for Communication Disorders, located at 1966 Inwood Road, Dallas, Texas, is an official arm of U.T. Dallas and as such independently follows the same policies and procedures at that location.
Receiving and Shipping Locations
U.T. Dallas Campus: The Receiving and Shipping Department is located in the Service Building, Room 1.102.
Callier Center: The receiving function at Callier is handled by the Business Office, Building C, where packages may be signed for and picked up by requisitioners. Incoming freight, which cannot be conveniently handled by this person, is received and distributed by Physical Plant personnel.
Items to be shipped are coordinated through U.T. Dallas Receiving personnel.
Receiving and Shipping Hours of Operation
U.T. Dallas: The usual hours of operation are:
Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Consult the annual U.T. Dallas Holiday schedule.
Note: The Christmas Holiday schedule for Receiving and Shipping personnel is not extended to include the identical dates published in the annual schedule, due to their interaction with commercial vendors and carriers.
