The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for two senior lecturer positions in Mechanical Engineering.
The minimum requirement is a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, and five years of experience in industry or academia. Candidates must have a passion for undergraduate and graduate education. The successful candidates will also participate in departmental administration. Senior lecturer position #1 (SL1) will devote time to teaching, with emphasis on project based instruction and design courses, career guidance and developing partnerships with industry leading to internship opportunities.Senior lecturer position #2 (SL2) will devote time to teaching, with emphasis on lower division engineering courses, and departmental service. Experience advising student organizations, and supervising national student competitions in mechanical engineering is desirable.
Created in the Fall of 2008, the Department of Mechanical Engineering is a key component of the university's growth strategy. The successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to shape this nascent department. The department has grown from 10 students in 2008 to 380 students in fall 2011, including 30 graduate students. The department is organized in the following core areas of mechanical engineering: dynamic systems & control, manufacturing & design innovation, mechanics & materials, and thermal & fluid sciences.
