The Center for BrainHealth at The University of Texas at Dallas seeks to fill a Postdoctoral Research position in Cognitive Neurosciences with a productive and innovative investigator whose research interests address functional brain neuroplasticity in response to cognitive training in individuals who have sustained a brain injury. As part of a large Department of Defense funded study, we are combining cognitive measures, neuropsychological measures, structural MRI, and functional MRI to track cognitive improvement in response to rehabilitative training. The position provides unique opportunity to explore a rich dataset that will total 100 individuals with either mild or moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI) tested across multiple time point before and after cognitive training, as well as three months following completion of the training to evaluate longer term outcomes. Data collected at each time point include: task-based fMRI, resting state fMRI, DTI, ASL, neuropsychological measures, cognitive measures, and demographic variables. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative cognitive neuroscience environment. The Center for BrainHealth is adjacent to The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center campus in the medical district of Dallas, Texas. We utilize state-of the art imaging resources at the Advanced Imaging Research Center at UTSWMC and additional lab space at the UTSWMC Department of Psychiatry.

Training plan for the Post-Doc Position:
The training program is designed as a 2-3 year experience that includes interdisciplinary team meetings, lab presentations, attendance at talks and medical Grand Rounds, journal article discussions, and training in cognitive and neuroimaging research. The successful applicant should have either a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and research experience relevant to analyzing MRI-based datasets (task-based fMRI, rest state connectivity, DTI, ASL). A major goal will be integrating data from these techniques and with behavioral measures to better understand frontal lobe neuroplasticity in response to training. Expertise in Matlab programming, Linux computing, and familiarity with neuroimaging software tools is desirable. Salary and benefits are competitive. An earlier start time is possible.

The Center for BrainHealth is located in uptown Dallas adjacent to The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. The Center's research is dedicated to applying cutting edge brain research to clinical populations to study brain plasticity. These projects cover a wide range of cognitive functions across the lifespan, across a multitude of disorders, and across the most current functional brain imaging technologies.

Established access available to special subject populations including: Alzheimer's Disease (AD), Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration (FTLD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), ADHD, Autism, Military and Former Military, as well as healthy Aging, Stroke, Adolescent, and Pediatric groups.

Access to state of the art facilities including: Philips 3T research-dedicated MRI scanner and Four Neuroscan SynAmps2 systems equipped for both 64 and 128 channel recordings.

Indication of gender and ethnicity for affirmative action statistical purposes is requested as part of the application. Official transcripts must be submitted to the Faculty Records Office prior to the first day of official employment for those applicants selected to teach at the University.

Curriculum vitae, a letter of application with a summary of research history, research interests and descriptions of educational background and teaching experience, and at least three letters of reference should be submitted via the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM available below.
