The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) is seeking nominations and applications for the position of Head of the Department of Chemistry. The Department of Chemistry at UTD has 25 faculty members, more than 430 Chemistry/Biochemistry undergraduate majors and >80 graduate students. The department offers BA, BS, MS, and PhD degrees. UTD is one of the fastest growing institutions in the country and the strategic plan calls for a doubling of the faculty in the near term future. Successful candidates will show a demonstrated aptitude for growing a vibrant research faculty in line with the university objectives. Research areas are far ranging and include bioanalytical technology, biological chemistry, advanced materials and electronics, biomedical NMR, chemical sensors, advanced membrane and separations technology, and drug discovery.

In addition to Chemistry, the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is home to Molecular and Cell Biology, Geosciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physics, Science and Mathematics Education and opportunities for collaboration abound within the School and with other departments in the University as well as the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

The position is important to the School and represents a significant opportunity to steer this well-established department during a time of rapid transformation. Qualified candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and a record of accomplishment commensurate with appointment at the Full Professor level. It may also include an endowed chair position for qualified applicants.
