Faculty Position in Science/Mathematics Education (pnf131002)
The University of Texas at Dallas seeks tenure-track or tenured faculty to strengthen its Science/Mathematics Education Department. Candidates should have a have a strong biology background and a fervent interest in the improvement of STEM education in K- 12 schools and in biology courses at UTD. Faculty are expected to contribute energetically to the delivery and continuous improvement of: (1) courses in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)/Science Education -- which serves primarily in-service K-12 teachers, (2) courses in UTeach-Dalias -- which prepares STEM majors and postbaccalaureates as secondary science and mathematics teachers, (3) UTD courses in biology, and (4) departmental goals. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching (including the development and testing of new approaches and materials) and to develop and execute discipline-based education research programs with a focus in K-12 education. PhD in Biology (or closely related fields) or Ph.D. in Science Education with M.S. in Biology required. Ability to teach courses in evolutionary biology and/or ecology (including molecular approaches) would be particularly advantageous.
