Lecturer/Dean's Fellow - Science/Mathematics Education (pne131002)
The University of Texas at Dallas seeks faculty who have a strong biology background and a fervent interest in the improvement of STEM education in K-12 schools and in lower division biology courses at UTD. Faculty are expected to contribute energetically to the delivery and continuous improvement of (1) courses in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)/Science Education -- which serves primarily in-service K-12 teachers, (2) courses in UTeach-Dalias -- which prepares STEM majors and post-baccalaureates as secondary science and mathematics teachers, (3) UTD foundation courses in biology, and (4) departmental goals. Candidates who demonstrate exceptional promise in teaching and in research related to the improvement of STEM education may be appointed as Dean's Fellows, Lecturer rank with reduced teaching load and with collaborative assignments designed to develop their teaching and peer-reviewed research capabilities. PhD in Biology (or closely related fields) required. Ability to teach courses in evolutionary biology and/or ecology (including molecular approaches) would be particularly advantageous.
