The Center for Space Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas is seeking applications for a Research Associate to work on problems in environmental data analysis. Candidates should have a PhD in Physics or a related discipline with several years experience in Bayesian methods and machine learning. Candidates should also have the ability to develop, apply and test new, advanced mathematical tools to better understand physical phenomena in multidisciplinary areas that will allow them to analyze and visualize these large data sets. It is preferred that the candidate have at least three years experience with: Bayesian data analysis with emphasis on computational techniques such as Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) and Particle Filters, expertise in the erticient analysis of the directional relationships between different variables through the estimation of "Information Theoretic Quantities such as Mutual Information and Transfer Entropy" from the data regarding a physical system, and proticicncy in "Source Separation" and techniques like Independent Component Analysis (ICA) and Empirical Orthogonal Functions (EOF) analysis.
