The Erik Jonsson School at the University of Texas at Dallas seeks to hire one or more full-time or part-time, non-tenure track senior lecturers. Full-time senior lecturers will be expected to teach seven classes during the fall and spring semesters, with the possibility of additional classes in the summer. These individuals would be primarily responsible for teaching courses to undergraduate engineering and computer science students relating to ethics and ethical issues. One course, ECS 3361 Ethics for Engineering and Computer Science, is required of all students in engineering and computer science.

The course will expose students to major theoretical approaches and modes of reasoning about ethical principles. Moreover, while exploring the various topics in Engineering Ethics, the course will devote considerable use of case studies as well as understanding of the interrelationship between the field of computing/engineering and its implications for society. Substantial use of case studies is required in order to prepare engineering and computer science graduates for professional practice.

The candidates should have a PhD or, at a minimum, a Master's degree in engineering or computer science. Ideally the candidates should have industrial experience and/or professional engineering licensure. The individuals hired will also work with the Jonsson School administration in the furtherance of accreditation standards as required by the accreditation requirements for engineering and computer science.
