The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) invites applications for faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in Systems Engineering.

Created in the Fall of 2011, the Department of Systems Engineering is a key component of UTD's growth strategy. The successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to shape this nascent department. Of particular interest are candidates whose research interests span one or more of the following areas: systems architecture, modeling, simulation and systems integration, control systems and optimization, systems management, risk management, and system design, in application areas such as health care systems, energy systems and smart grid, software systems and cyber security, and defense systems.

The UTD Department of Systems Engineering currently offers the M.S. degree in Systems Engineering and Management, a joint degree with the highly rated UT Dallas Naveen Jindal Scholl of Management. In addition, the Systems Engineering Department participates in the Jindal School of Management PhD program in Managerial Science, with concentrations in areas related to systems engineering. The close proximity to a large number of high tech companies in the Dallas area offers outstanding opportunities for collaboration in research and graduate education.

In addition to Systems Engineering, the Erik Johnson School is home to the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering and Material Science & Engineering and has interdisciplinary degree programs in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering and Software Engineering.

The University of Texas at Dallas is situated in Richardson, one of the most attractive suburbs of the Dallas metropolitan area with several hundred high-tech companies within a few miles of the campus, including Texas Instruments, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Lennox, Rockwell-Collins, Alcate-Lucentl, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, Fujitsu, Cisco Systems, and Zyvex. Opportunities for joint university-industry research projects are excellent.

Qualified candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, and the potential to develop an externally funded research program. Candidates for positions at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level must have a strong record of scholarly and professional achievements.
