Research Associate Positions in Bioengineering – Biomedical Engineering (pce130715)
The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science and the Texas Biomedical Device Center at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) invite applications for three Research Associate (post-doctoral) positions. These non-tenured positions are renewable for a total of three years, based on satisfactory performance and funding.
The Department of Bioengineering at UTD currently offers the BS, MS and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering. The MS and PhD degree programs are offered jointly with The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and the University of Texas at Arlington. The close proximity to the Medical School offers outstanding opportunities for collaborative research. In addition to Bioengineering, the Erik Johnson School is home to the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science & Engineering, and Systems Engineering and has interdisciplinary programs in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, and Software Engineering.
The University of Texas at Dallas is situated in Richardson, one of the most attractive suburbs of the Dallas metropolitan area with several hundred high-tech companies within a few miles of the campus, including Texas Instruments, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Lennox, Rockwell-Collins, Nortel Networks, Alcatel, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, Fujitsu, Cisco Systems, EDS, Zyvex, and Intervoice. Opportunities for joint university-industry research projects are excellent. The Erik Jonsson School is experiencing a very rapid growth as part of a $300 million program of funding from public and private sources. In addition to people and programs, The Bioengineering Department will move to a new $108 million state-of-the art Bioengineering and Science Building when it is completed in 2015.
Qualified candidates must have the potential to develop an externally funded research program. The center has a primary focus on neural engineering and neuromodulation. Qualified candidates should have formal training and experience in biomedical, electrical, or mechanical engineering. Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in technology development including medical device development, circuit design, programming of microprocessors, sensor design/development, software design and testing. This program is highly collaborative in nature and requires the ability to work well on teams; including sharing credit, joint authorship, resource sharing and joint project/grant reviews.
