The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA). This is a 12-month appointment. The successful candidate will be appointed as a tenured full professor in one of the academic departments in the Jonsson School and will be expected to engage in teaching and research in addition to the administrative duties of the position. The ADAA reports to and is evaluated by the Dean of the School of Engineering and Computer Science.

Major functions and responsibilities of the ADAA include:

  • Serve as Chair of the School Academic Affairs Committee.
  • Serve as the ABET and SACS liaison officer for the Jonsson School
  • Supervise the Jonsson School Office of Assessment
  • Coordinate the graduate programs with respect to resources and priorities.
  • Represent the Jonsson School on the Graduate Council.
  • Oversee the preparation of the Graduate Catalog copy based on inputs from the department heads and program heads.
  • Oversee the Jonsson School mentoring program for faculty development.
  • Provide leadership in the recruiting of PhD students.

Qualified candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and must have a record of accomplishment commensurate with appointment at the Full Professor level. Administrative experience at the level of Department Head or Associate Dean and experience with ABET evaluation are required.

The Erik Johnson School is home to the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, and Materials Science & Engineering and has interdisciplinary programs in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering and Software Engineering.

The University of Texas at Dallas is situated in Richardson, one of the most attractive suburbs of the Dallas metropolitan area with several hundred high-tech companies within a few miles of the campus, including Texas Instruments, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Lennox, Rockwell-Collins, Nortel Networks, Alcatel, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, Fujitsu, Cisco Systems, EDS, Zyvex, and Intervoice. The Erik Jonsson School is experiencing a very rapid growth and is expanding its existing programs, establishing new programs, and recruiting outstanding faculty.
