The School of Arts and Humanities at The University of Texas at Dallas seeks to fill a faculty position, at the rank of Senior Lecturer, in Photography. The successful candidate will teach photography classes and provide technical knowledge and support within the Arts and Performance program and assures smooth operation of the photography and digital facilities by assisting students, faculty and staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach two photography courses each long semester
  • Supervision of work-study students
  • Coordination of use of dedicated digital facilities -including classroom, open lab and digital print output
  • develop modifications for improvement of existing equipment
  • design, plan, lay out, assign & inspect work of subordinates in construction or major repair of specialized electrical, mechanical & optical apparatus
  • inventory and order materials and supplies; assist with budget preparation
  • implement guidelines for lab safety
  • manage hazardous waste collection
  • submit work order requests for photography laboratory spaces
  • report to Photography Program Director
  • collaborate with faculty members in the design and functional application of photography equipment and laboratory
  • work with Program Director to train and supervise work-study student assistant
  • assist with Comer Photography Collection inventory when applicable
  • supervise student checkout of photography equipment
  • supervise digital print output of student photographs in support of class instruction
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • other duties as assigned

This position is a 9 month faculty position with required administrative duties, including summers, therefore making this a 12 month position. Candidates must have an MFA degree in Studio Art (Photography) or equivalent, appropriate teaching experience, and broad familiarity with contemporary art and photography.
