Assistant Professor in Emerging Media: Design for Emerging Media (pac080716)

The School of Arts and Humanities at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Arts and Technology (ATEC) with a focus on Design for Emerging Media.

Appointment will begin September 1, 2009. We invite applications from designers and media artists developing websites and weblogs and/or interactive scenarios for emerging media forms. Experience in one of more of the following areas is required:

  • Internet Design and Publishing and other Networked Environments
  • Emerging Digital Communication network
  • Social Networks
  • Virtual Worlds
  • Mobile Devices

Strong visual and design skills are essential. Knowledge of “web 2.0” technologies and web publishing, social media, user generated content and other recent internet developments is desirable. Ph.D. or M.F.A. in appropriate field is desirable.

The successful candidate will also have a strong commitment to publishing, undergraduate and graduate teaching, interdisciplinary education and participation in research projects. The School offers an interdisciplinary academic program emphasizing linkages among various modes of knowledge and artistic expression.
